Bail set at $7,500

EPHRATA - A Grand Coulee man was charged with rape of a child in the third degree.

After receiving a complaint, Grand Coulee police allegedly went to the residence of Michael William Cody Blackburn, 24, according to Grant County Superior Court records.

When the officer arrived, he reportedly smelled alcohol on Blackburn's breath and smelled marijuana, according to the police report. When the officer asked if there were any minors in the residence, Blackburn allegedly said, "yes" and "no."

Once the officer received a search warrant, he reportedly found a 15-year-old girl in the bedroom.

Blackburn allegedly told the officer to be careful because there were used condoms on the bedroom floor, according to court records. When the officer asked about it, the girl reportedly told the officer she and Blackburn had sex a couple of nights before the officer arrived.

Blackburn reportedly confirmed having sex with the girl and he knew she was 15 years old, according to court documents.

Blackburn's bail was set at $7,500 and the court imposed a curfew of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. as a condition of his release. Blackburn is not allowed to have contact with the girl.

If he is convicted, Blackburn could face a five-year sentence and an up to $10,000 fine.
