Knights top Jacks

ROYAL CITY - The Lady Knights of Royal City hosted the Quincy Jacks in a non-league volleyball match Thursday night.

The Lady Knights jumped out to an early lead in the match, winning the first game 25-18.

Quincy rebounded and dominated the match's second game 25-14.

The third game featured rally after rally with the Knights jumping ahead early and winning 25-16.

With a two games to one lead, the Lady Knights were in prime position to take the fourth game and the match.

The fourth game of the match turned out to be the final game of the match. With the lead changing several times during the course of the game, the Lady Knights persevered the game and the match with a win 26-24 victory over Quincy.

Royal won the match 3-1 and Royal head coach Ashley Roberts was pleased with the win and her team's caliber of play.

"There were lots of rallies," Roberts said. "Quincy was good at getting the ball back over."

Quincy coach Jeanne Brindle said her team is familiar with the Lady Knights.

"We play (Royal) a lot in summer ball," Brindle said.

Taylor Kunkel led Quincy with one ace, four kills, four blocks and seven digs. Becca Boen had two aces, one kill and seven digs for the Jacks.

Manda Brindle had two aces, eleven assists, two digs and two kills.
