MOSES LAKE - The Chiefs could not find their rhythm as they fell to the visiting Vikings 23-13.

Coeur d' Alene raced to an early 7-0 advantage in the first quarter thanks to a 1-yard touchdown run from Justin Goodwin.

Senior quarterback Josh Loera scored the first touchdown at the newly renovated Lions Field when he rushed for a touchdown from 3-yards out with 12.4 seconds left in the first quarter.

Dylan Signorelli's point after attempt sailed wide and the Vikings held a one-point lead over the Chiefs 7-6.

The Moses Lake defense stumbled when Coeur d'Alene's J.J. Turbin threw a 64-yard touchdown strike to Ryan Dunton to give the Vikings a 13-6 lead when the Vikings extra point attempt failed.

Coeur d' Alene added another touchdown before the half when Turbin found Jackson Seaman from the 14-yard line. The score gave the Vikings a 20-6 halftime advantage over the hometown Chiefs.

During halftime the Moses Lake Athletic Department inducted 12 new members into the Moses Lake High School Hall of Fame. Members of the 2008 Hall of Fame class include Sarah Chamberlain, Ben Kayser, Michele Kittrell, Theresa Madson, Jeff Palmer, the Hugh and Linda Raymond Family, Reed Raymond, Ryan Raymond, Jordan Reffett and Kim (Sandberg) Epple.

Epple graduated from Moses Lake High School in 2002 and said it was an honor to receive this distinction from her alma mater.

"It means that all of your hard work has paid off," she said. "I was really surprised. It makes me really proud to say that I am in the hall of fame at my high school."

Following the induction ceremony, the Chiefs and Vikings kicked off the second half of football.

The Moses Lake defense settled down in the third quarter and held the Coeur d' Alene offense scoreless.

Moses Lake cut the deficit to 20-13 when Loera connected with senior wide receiver Billy Brice for a 1-yard touchdown pass.

Loera finished the night 21 of 32 passing for 206 yards and 1 touchdown. Loera also rushed for 76 yards and another score.

Isaac Bergeson led the Chiefs receiving attack with five catches for 74 yard and Brice had eight catches for 71 yards.

Coeur d' Alene added a 37-yard field goal in fourth quarter to give the Vikings a 23-13 victory over the Chiefs.

Chiefs head coach Greg Kittrell said his team battled Friday night but consistency was an issue.

"We were hit and miss," he said. "They hung together. They fought, they battled, they played and played and played."

Kittrell said his team will recover from the loss and prepare for Southridge next Friday at Lions Field.

"Everyone is disappointed," he said. "We just have to get mentally prepared. We'll bounce back and be ready to play on Monday."
