ROYAL CITY - The Royal girls soccer team jumped out to an early lead against Mabton and never looked back as the Lady Knights earned a 6-0 victory in Royal City.

The Knights scored in the eighth minute of the match when Royal's Katrina Werlinger put the ball in the back of the net.

Royal added another goal in the 20th minute to surge to a 2-0 lead.

Royal head coach Jens Jensen was satisfied with his team's performance Thursday night.

"It is still early and we are working out a few bugs," he said. "The girls are progressing and that is the main goal."

Tawnee Gonzalez scored her first of two goals in the winning effort for the Knights in the 38th minute giving the Knights a 3-0 halftime lead.

The Knights scored their fourth goal of the game when Maria Garcia scored in the 53rd minute.

Royal made the score 5-0 when Cierra Miller found the back of the net in the 68th minute.

The Knights capped the scoring one minute later when Gonzalez scored her second goal in the 69th minute.
