MOSES LAKE - With the grand re-opening of Moses Lake's Lions Field scheduled for today, tonight will be a night to remember Moses Lake's rich athletic tradition.

While the Moses Lake Chiefs will host the Coeur D'Alene Vikings this evening to help represent the future of Moses Lake athletics, Moses Lake High School remembers the past with the induction of the 2008 Moses Lake Chiefs Hall of Fame class.

The 2008 class are as follows:

Ben Kayser

Ben Kayser was a three-sport athlete for Moses Lake before earning a college scholarship to Olivet Nazarene University to play baseball and football. Ben was 1st-team All-Big-9 pitcher and earned seven letters for the Chiefs. He earned Conference honors in football and basketball as well as being voted the Most Athletic of his Senior Class. Captain Benjamin Kayser has served his country in Iraq and is intending to continue with the U.S. Army as Chaplin.

Michele Kittrell

Michele Kittrell touched thousands of student's lives in her 33 years in education, but none more memorable than the nine years of Molahiette Dance and Drill teams she shaped. Two separate stints as the head coach produced two National Championship teams and five Washington State Superior awards (three prior to WIAA awarding the Dance & Drill Championships and two as State Champs).

The Raymond Family

The Hugh and Linda Raymond family could be considered some of the greatest supporters and contributors of all time to Chief Athletics. Hugh and Linda, their son's Robert, Rick, Reed and Ryan have helped with numerous volunteer building projects, helped start booster programs, and Linda even drove countless Chief bus trips. Chief athletic facilities have benefited immensely with the contracting efforts of Hugh and the boys. In the '80s, Chief wrestlers needed a practice facility to continue their excellence and Coach Seibel enlisted Hugh to be the lead contractor on the volunteer project. Two other major volunteer projects that the Raymond's have contributed to include the Lion's Field original press box and an 8,000 square foot Team Room that fills the south end of the stadium.

Sarah Chamberlain

Sarah Chamberlain pitched the Chief Softball team to State three consecutive years, helping the team place 7th, 5th and 4th. She pitched four years for the Chiefs, earning 3 League Championships and 4 District Championships. She pitched 4 "no-hitters" as a Chief. As a senior, she also hit .619 and was named the 2000 All Area player of the year, topping off a career of four First-Team Big 9 or Mid-Valley league awards. She also was a Second Team Mid Valley basketball player her senior year before accepting a full ride scholarship to pitch at Wichita State.

Theresa Madson

Theresa Madson was the first Chief tennis player, male or female, to compete at State and earn a college scholarship. She played #1 singles for four years for the Chiefs, earning the League Champion spot twice and was the District Champion once.

Jeff Palmer

Jeff Palmer was a three-sport standout and Captain for the Chiefs, earning All Big 9 Honors in all three as a tight end and punter in football, in basketball and as a sprinter in track. He set school records for the longest reception from scrimmage (91 yards), most receiving yards in a game (189) and was part of the record setting 4 X 400 M relay with James Swanson, Tim Krueger and Jamie Jackson. Jeff was an All-State football player and the 4 X 400 relay earned him a 2nd place medal at State.

Reed Raymond

Reed Raymond, along with twin brother Ryan, formed the "twin towers" and set the stage for a new era of Chief football in terms of success and headed a list of lineman recruited from Moses Lake in recent years. Reed was selected first team All Big 9 lineman and selected to play in the East-West All State game. He was recognized All State by the Seattle P.I. and the Associated Press, as well as being named a Tacoma News Tribune "Northwest Nugget." He earned nine varsity letters, including three in football, three in track & field, one in basketball and two in wrestling.

Ryan Raymond

Ryan, along with twin brother Reed, formed the "twin towers" and set the stage for a new era of Chief football in terms of success and headed a list of lineman recruited from Moses Lake in recent years. Ryan was selected first team All Big 9 lineman and selected to play in the East-West All State game. He was recognized All State by the Seattle P.I. and the Associated Press, as well as being named a Tacoma News Tribune "Northwest Nugget." He earned eight varsity letters, including three in football, three in track & field and two in basketball.

Jordan Reffett

Jordan Reffett was the first four-year letterman in both football and basketball in school history. He helped the Chief football team reach the State playoffs 3 of 4 years, finishing his senior year being named the Big 9 Defensive Player of the Year and earning All-State Honors. He was 1st Team All Big 9 in both football and basketball (All League honors all four years) as he helped the Chief basketball team to a Regional basketball tournament berth.

Kim Sandberg

Kim Sandberg earned three volleyball and four basketball varsity letters for the Chiefs. In volleyball, she twice earned All Big 9 recognition and she was the Chiefs Most Improved as a sophomore and the MVP her junior and senior year. But it was basketball where Kim really excelled. She was the team's MVP all four years of her career, earning All Mid-Valley and All Big 9 honors each year. Her senior year, she was named All State and played in the Media Classic. She became the first 1,000-point scorer and held the career point record (1,227) when she graduated.

James Warren

James Warren was a member of two State Championship teams for the Chiefs wrestling program in 1964 and 1965. Warren's high school record of 30-3-2 seems overshadowed by a final composite record of 178-36-3 from Junior High to College and the US Army.
