MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Fire Department is investigating the cause of a house fire in a mobile home park on South Division Street Wednesday morning.

The fire was called into emergency dispatch at approximately 8:45 a.m., Chief Tom Taylor said. The department left the scene at about 1 p.m.

A neighbor reported seeing smoke billowing out of the home, he said. Flames were not visible until the front door was opened, Taylor said. The flames engulfed the home and all rooms appeared damaged.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire but there are tenants, Taylor said. It is unclear if the tenants are displaced.

It’s unclear where the fire started and the cause remains under investigation.

It took firefighters about five minutes to extinguish the bulk of the fire and they spent between 30 and 40 minutes soaking hot spots.

While firefighters were on scene, a few embers caught fire again requiring the use of another water truck to extinguish the flames, Taylor said.
