Lind-Ritzville holds off Warden

RITZVILLE — The Lind-Ritzville Broncos overcame an early first game deficit at home to defeat the Warden Cougars three games to one game Tuesday night.
The Broncos were down 21-24 before rallying for a 27-25 win in game one, Warden head volleyball coach Jeff Kottong said.
“We were up 24-21 and Lind-Ritzville came back and took it from us,” he said.
Warden rebounded and took the second game of the match 25-21.
The Cougars could not maintain the momentum from their second game victory as Lind-Ritzville responded to win the final two games of the match 25-17, 25-17.
Despite the loss Kottong was impressed with his team’s aggressiveness.
“The showed intensity,” he said. “They hustled. I look for good things down the road.”
Warden’s Amanda Martinez led the Cougars with 17 assists. Cassandra Kisler finished the evening with two aces and Kacey Kisler had eight kills and 10 digs in the losing effort. Jennifer Guerra also added eight kills for the Cougars.
Kelsey Arlt of Lind-Ritzville had five aces for the Broncos. Amy Bouwman and Heather Whitmore also had two blocks apiece for Lind-Ritzville.
Ellensburg tops Quincy
The Ellensburg Bulldogs held off the Quincy Jacks Thursday night as the Bulldogs won three games to one game in Quincy.
The Jacks lost the first game of the match 25-16 before winning the second game 25-20.
Quincy could not hold off Ellensburg as the Bulldogs won the final two games of the match 25-19 and 25-21.
The Jacks travel to Royal Thursday night.
