Chiefs lose in four games to Blue Devils

MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Chiefs fell into an early hole against the visiting Walla Walla Blue Devils Tuesday night and couldn't dig themselves out.

The Chiefs lost the first game of the match 25-15 before rebounding to win the second game 25-22.

Moses Lake could not keep the momentum and lost the final two games of the match 25-21 and 25-18.

Walla Walla made fewer mistakes than Chiefs did, Moses Lake head coach Amy Utter said.

"Volleyball is a game of mistakes," she said. "The key is to make them make more than you. We weren't consistent tonight."

While the first game of Tuesday's match was the first game of the Chiefs' season, Utter said she was happy with her team's efforts.

"We had moments when we played really well," she said.

Shelby Gonzales led the Chiefs with seven serving aces in the defeat. Gonzales also added nine kills and 15 digs. Moses Lake's Iesha Garza finished the night with seven kills, six aces and 19 digs. Shelby Kenner had seven kills and three blocks, and Markie Fancher led the Chiefs with 24 assists.
