Ciao Bella establishes a downtown presence

MOSES LAKE - After opening this summer in downtown Moses Lake, Ciao Bella Boutique Salon is already planning to expand the business by leasing space next door.

In about five months, Ciao Bella owner Amanda Fletcher said she hopes to enlarge the salon into a portion of the former El Charro restaurant and hire two to three more employees.

She said she wants to create more of a spa atmosphere by offering facials and massage therapy.

The hair salon currently offers cuts, colors, perms, conditioning treatments and waxing, Fletcher said.

Fletcher said herself and fellow hair designer and color specialists Carla Grigg, Tracy Lunning and Amber Juarez have over 25 years of combined experience.

Fletcher, Grigg and Lunning previously worked together at Capelli's Salon in Moses Lake. Juarez came from Salon Goddess in Moses Lake.

Fletcher said she and Lunning attended beauty school together.

"All of us here are great friends," Fletcher said. "Even though we're all self-employed, I'm running the salon as a team. I think a lot of people like that. I want (customers) to be comfortable with all of us."

The salon was formerly an interior design store. Fletcher said she thought it had a cozy feel to it. "That's kind of why I jumped on it," she added.

She's tried to create a homier feel inside the business with a rustic Italian theme, complete with textured floors and walls and a color scheme of rich browns and yellows.

The decor ties into the name of the business, Ciao Bella, which means hello, goodbye and beautiful in Italian, Fletcher said.

People have given the stylists positive feedback on the look and feel of the place, Fletcher said.

The atmosphere was also noticed by area photographer Denise Anderson, who has done wedding photos for her clients at Ciao Bella.

They learned the salon photographed well, Fletcher said.

With advance notice, the salon can be closed for a wedding party, so they can bring in their own music and "make it more their own day," she explained.

The business is a Tigi exclusive salon and sells Tigi hairsprays, gels and mouses. Fletcher said

Tigi has over 280 exclusive salons, which are very successful, she explained. One can't beat the education behind the products, Fletcher added.

Grigg is a Tigi ambassador and is trained to educate other stylists about Tigi products.

Lunning and Fletcher received Tigi advanced cut and color training in New York City.

Juarez attended training in New York City for a product line called "Bumble and Bumble."

Fletcher said the salon's main goal is to keep updated on education.

Ciao Bella's open house celebration is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sept. 12.

Hor d'oeuves and beverages will be offered.

Fletcher invites everyone to check out the business, which is on 211 S. Division Ave., Moses Lake.

"It's been really nice," Fletcher said. "I love the feel of being downtown. We get visitors every day."
