Donald Lucian Conrad

Don was born on a farm in Chappel, Neb., Oct. 25,1916. As a young boy he worked long hours on machinery.

During the Depression years he worked in the CCC camp and sent money home. He owned and operated a service station in Ellensburg and worked at Central Washington College in the store for supplies and maintenance. He helped manage a large farm in Pecos, Texas. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Don was the eldest child and only boy. He is preceded in death by his father Lucian Donald Conrad, mother Anna Louisa Glaubitz and sisters Doris Johnson and Lucille Perkins. Still living are Pauline Steinman and Doriene Morris.

He married Evelyn Ellis June 29, 1938, and they have six surviving children: Chloe Conrad, Roger Conrad, Dixie Merkley, Marsha Sheron and David Conrad. Don died at the age of 91 in Payson, Utah on Sept. 1, 2008 after a long illness.

Graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, at the 100F Cemetery in Ellensburg, with Bishop Don Tucker conducting.
