Anastacia Nocum Huff
Anastacia Nocum Huff passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on the morning of August 29, 2008, at 10:28 a.m. at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.
She will be remembered for her sense of humor, love of family, generous spirit and, of course, her casino games. Words cannot express how dearly she will be missed by all who knew her. Anastacia was born in the Philippine Islands in the city of Manila on May 10 or 1926. This is where she grew up and attended school until Japan invaded Manila. Then she moved to PSI, San Andreas Subdivision, Manila. After the war, she attended hair dresser school in Angels, a city near Clarkfield Airforce Base.
Anastacia met Roland Charles Huff at a dance in Angels, and it was love at first sight. They were married on May 17, 1954. She was very professional at cooking and taking care of two children, Jaunito and Pearla, who she and her husband adopted in Manila.
Roland returned to the United States after his tour of duty and processed paper-work for his wife and family to come to his duty station at Larson Airforce Base at Moses Lake. She received citizenship on Nov. 17, 1959. She traveled with Roland to many posts in the USA and Japan. Roland served in many war zones where she and the children were not allowed to go, and although she never agreed with his going to these catastrophe areas of the world, he served his country. Meanwhile, Anna worked at Country Garden Potato Company and later becamea cook at Elmer’s Restaurant in Moses Lake. They built a home on Sunny Drive in Moses Lake in 1982, where Anastacia happily spent the rest of her life.
Anastacia is now in a happy peaceful place which she so deserves with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 5, at 1 p.m. at Benson’s Funeral Home, 104 W 5th Avenue, Moses Lake. Her ashes will be placed near her family and friends in Manila.
