MOSES LAKE - Since the fire destroying his business in late July, Don Blasdel moved his upholstery business to a shop he built at his home.

On July 29, a fire tore through Don's Custom Upholstery on 22nd Avenue in Moses Lake.

The fire destroyed his upholstery materials, tools, a customer vehicle he was working on and caused severe damage to the building. Blasdel said he lost thousands of dollars worth of materials and equipment.

The fire began in the center of the upholstery business. Two other storage facilities located in the same building sustained smoke damage.

The cause of fire remains under investigation by the Grant County Fire Marshal's Office.

Don and his son Dave Blasdel managed the business together for more than 15 years. where they worked to upholster commercial and private furniture and vehicles.

Since the fire, business has slowed, he said.

Blasdel said he is still able to conduct his business out of the shop at his residence where it may be permanently located.

Customers can still reach him at 509-762-5431 or 509-431-4219 for upholstery services.
