Incident is gang-related

MOSES LAKE - Police served a search warrant at a West Loop Drive residence looking for evidence related to a gang-related drive-by shooting in mid-August.

The drive-by happened on Highland Drive in Moses Lake the weekend of Aug. 16, Moses Lake police Capt. Dave Ruffin said. A male driving an Oldsmobile sedan reportedly shot a handgun at the residence.

It is unclear how many shots were fired and no injuries were reported, Ruffin said. There was minimal damage to the residence.

Police attempted to stop the suspect vehicle after the drive-by shooting, he said. The male driver fled on foot and was not apprehended.

The vehicle was impounded but evidence related to the incident was not located.

Through witnesses, police learned what the suspect was wearing during the incident and have a possible suspect, Ruffin said. The suspect is believed to live at the Loop Drive residence. Police located clothing in the residence believed to be worn by the suspect.

The suspect was not arrested and the investigation continues.

While police served the search warrant, they located a 13-year-old male with a warrant for his arrest. The male was arrested for a trespassing warrant but it was not related to the drive-by incident.

People with information about the drive-by shooting can call the Moses Lake Police Department at 509-766-9230.
