Chiefs XC runners qualify for regionals
Five Moses Lake students to run in Saturday's race
WENATCHEE - After competing at the Columbia Basin Big Nine's district cross country meet Thursday in Wenatchee, the Moses Lake Chiefs had five runners qualify for the regional race on Nov. 1.
Moses Lake senior David Asfour had the highest finish for the Chiefs. Asfour finished in 28th place with a time of 16:30.
Chiefs senior Jeff Marsh finished in 44th place for Moses Lake with a time of 16:51.
The district race was the first time Asfour finished higher than Marsh all season.
Chiefs senior runner Aristotles Santiago finished 49th and was the final district qualifier for the Moses Lake boys cross-country team. Santiago finished the race in 16:58.
The Chiefs boys team finished ninth overall with 240 team points.
Eisenhower High School won the boys' district championship with 50 points.
In the girls cross country district tournament Moses Lake senior Kristin Budiselich finished in 44th place, qualifying for regionals with a time of 21:07.
Moses Lake junior Tiffany Morris also qualified for the regional race, finishing in 58th place.
Morris is in her first year competing for Moses Lake and finished the race in 22:27.
The Moses Lake girls cross country team finished in 11th place with 298 team points.
Richland won the girls' district championship with 38 points.
The regional championships for the Moses Lake High School boys and girls cross country teams will be held Nov. 1 at Carmichael Middle School in Richland.
