Knights 41, Panthers 6

ROYAL CITY— The Royal Knights stopped the River View Panthers 41-6 in a South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC) match up Friday night at David Nielson Memorial Field.

The Knights improved their record to 7-0 and remained undefeated as they hosted second-place River View.

The Panthers defense held the Knights scoreless throughout much of the first quarter, allowing head coach Wiley Allred to attempt a pair of trick plays, a flea-flicker and an onside kick. Both plays failed.

With the teams scoreless, Allred said he wanted to catch River View off-guard.

"It was worth the risk, we were scoreless and it was fourth and twenty" Allred said of the flea-flicker. "We just wanted to score."

Royal Knight defensive standout Devin Dyer was instrumental in the victory and was credited with a sack, a fumble recovery and forced fumble.

Knights senior quarterback Connor Paysee opened the scoring with 54-yard run to give Royal a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

The Knights followed their 7-0 lead by scoring 27 points in the second quarter on their way to a 34-0 halftime lead.

Blair Collins scored Royal's second touchdown of the evening, scoring on a 71-yard pass from Paysse.

With Royal leading 14-0, Paysee scored again when he scrambled 18 yards for another Knights touchdown. The extra-point attempt failed and Royal held a 20-0 lead over the Panthers.

On the Knights' next possession, Paysse found Collins again for a 27-yard touchdown pass and a 27-0 Royal lead.

With the second quarter winding down, Ben Singer finished out the first half scoring with a 31-yard touchdown reception from Paysee.

The touchdown throw was Paysse' third scoring pass of the night.

With a 34-0 halftime advantage, Allred went to his reserves for much of the second half.

The Knights continued to score when Angel Ledezma found the endzone from one yard out to give the Knights a 41-0 lead.

River View's Chance Watt ended the Royal shutout bid when he scored on a 37-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Nate Remillard.

The Knights travel to Connell Friday night to take on the Eagles for the SCAC league championship Friday night.
