Moses Lake school bus, mini-van collide
Boy transported for possible injuries
MOSES LAKE - A Moses Lake School District school bus and a minivan collided on South Pioneer Way near the intersection with Sharon Avenue in Moses Lake Friday afternoon.
A boy who was riding the bus was transported to Samaritan Healthcare for possible injuries. Paramedics placed a neck brace on him and carried him on a stretcher.
More than 40 students were on the bus at the time of the collision. All students who said they were not injured were escorted to another school bus to be taken home. Chief Moses Middle School personnel ushered students onto the alternate bus parked in a parking lot a few feet away.
Before students were able to exit the bus, they were questioned by the Moses Lake Fire Department and Moses Lake police to ensure they were not injured.
The driver of the minivan reportedly told police she was traveling toward the direction of the oncoming school bus on South Pioneer Way and attempted to make a left turn. She allegedly failed to complete the turn and collided with the bus.
The front end of the school bus and the passenger side of the minivan were damaged.
The driver and three juvenile males in the minivan did not appear to have injuries.
