OTHELLO - The Othello Huskies rolled out to a 21-0 first quarter lead en route to a 49-0 shutout victory over the visiting Quincy Jacks Friday night.
Othello Senior quarterback Marc Garza completed just eight passes for 125 yards and three touchdowns as Othello dominated Quincy to earn the Central Washington Athletic Conference victory.
With the win, Othello improved to 6-1 on the season. The only loss on the Othello schedule was to defending state champion Prosser on Sept. 19.
Following the loss, winless Quincy fell to 0-7.
Othello received the opening kick.
From that moment, the game was Othello's.
The Huskies scored three times in each of the game's first two quarters to jump out to a 42-0 halftime lead on Homecoming.
The first Othello touchdown came when Marc Garza found wide receiver Amos Garza for a 36-yard touchdown pass.
After the Jacks fumbled the snap a punting opportunity, wide receiver Jakob Scott caught the first of two touchdown passes from Garza.
The first Scott touchdown came on a 24-yard pass that gave Othello a 14-0 first quarter lead.
On Quincy's next possession, the Othello defense forced another Jacks punt deep in Quincy territory.
After Quincy punted the football, junior punt returner Devon Lind fielded the football at the 50-yard line and raced down the Quincy sideline for a 21-0 Othello lead.
The Othello offense didn't slow in the second quarter as Othello scored on touchdown runs from senior Aaron Simmons and junior Parker Davis.
Simmons' touchdown run came from two yards out while Davis scampered 28 yards to give Othello a 35-0 lead late in the first half.
With time running out before halftime, Garza found Scott again for a 17-yard touchdown and a 42-0 halftime lead.
Othello would reach the endzone one last time in the third quarter when junior running back David Charles scored on a 12 yard touchdown run, giving the Huskies a 49-0 victory.
Junior running back Matt Jensen led Othello with 63 rushing yards on seven carries.
Quincy sophomore running back Manny Ybarra led the Jacks rushing attack with 16 carries for 47 yards.
The Othello Huskies travel to Wapato Friday night to take on the Wolves while the Quincy Jacks host the visiting Grandview Greyhounds
