Warden tops Royal in five games

WARDEN - The Warden Lady Cougars hosted the Royal Lady Knights in an exciting South Central Athletic Conference 2A match up Tuesday night.

It took the Lady Cougars five games to win the match.

The Lady Knights took the first game 25-19.

In game one, the Lady Knights jumped out to an early 12-5 lead before the Lady Cougars clawed their way back into the game to tie it at 12-12.

The battle at the net continued as the both teams fought point for point to tie the game at 19-19.

With the score tied, the Lady Knights went on a scoring run to earn the 25-19 victory.

Down 1-0, Warden rallied and won games two and three 25-22 and 27-25.

The second game opened with the Lady Knights hoping to maintain their momentum from game one, but the Lady Cougars stepped up to the net from the opening serve and dug for every point in a back and forth battle.

Warden then went on a six point run before the Lady Knights could close the gap in the 25-22 loss.

The Lady Cougars jumped out to a 12-3 lead with seemingly easy victory in hand.

However, the Knights battled back, closing the gap to 16-14 and eventually tying the game at 24-24 and then again at 25-25.

Despite the rally, the Lady Knights couldn't hold off the Lady Cougars as Warden prevailed 27-25.

Royal rebounded to tie the match at 2-2 following a 25-18 game four victory.

In the fourth game of the match, the Lady Knights jumped out to a 12-7 advantage and never looked back, topping the Lady Cougars 25-18.

In the fifth and deciding game of the match, the Lady Knights could not hold of the Lady Cougars as Warden pounced on a 15-7 victory.

The fifth match was a 15-point shoot out which saw momentum shift back to the Cougars who took an 8-4 lead.

With the game and match on the line, the Lady Cougars went on an eight-point run which sealed the Lady Knights' fate.

Warden head coach Jeff Kottong said it was exciting to watch the game and see how his team responded.

"I'm proud of the girls, they were exciting to watch". Kottong said.

Cassandra Kisler led the Lady Cougars with 8 kills, 18/19 serving, 3 aces and 19 digs

Kacy Kisler 7 kills, 1 block and 3 aces, Emma Bisnett had 6 kills, 5 blocks and 2 aces.
