Liberty Bell takes three straight

SOAP LAKE - The Lady Eagles of Soap Lake hosted the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions Tuesday night in volleyball action.

The Eagles dropped three straight games 25-22, 25-18 and 25-19 to lose the match to Liberty Bell.

In the first game, the Mountain Lions jumped out to an early 6-0 advantage but couldn't dispose of the Eagles.

Soap Lake competed with Liberty Bell and held on, tying the game at 18-18.

Despite the rally, the Eagles couldn't hold on as Liberty Bell earned the 25-22 win.

The Mountain Lions came out in game two hoping to capitalize on the momentum they earned from their first game victory.

The Eagles built momentum of their own as Soap Lake stepped up to score the first eight points of the game.

Soap Lake couldn't hold on as Liberty Bell went on a 25-10 run to close out the Eagles 25-18.

Liberty Bell relied on the confidence they built throughout the first two games to defeat the Eagles 25-18 in game three to close out the sweep.

Although her team fell in defeat, first year Soap Lake head coach LeAnne Leseman was looking forward to playing Liberty Bell.

"They are a really good team, we really like playing them," Leseman said.

After the loss, Leseman was surprised at the level of play.

"We're really not the team you saw tonight," Leseman said. "Practice tomorrow is going to be pretty tough."

Jamie Stamper of the Eagles had five aces and nine assists, Mercedes Franks added five kills and 2 blocks, and Samantha Marthini finished with five kills of her own.
