Pullers close out season
MOSES LAKE - Horsepower of the mechanical kind took center stage at the Grant County Fair Grounds Saturday afternoon as the Columbia Basin Sled Pullers hosted their season finale.
The Kenny Ardell arena was the battleground as man and machine faced off.
Participants attempted to prove their trucks had the most pulling power.
Drivers from the Columbia Basin Sled Pullers wowed the audience with displays of horsepower as they drug a custom-built sled 200 feet across the arena floor.
The atmosphere was filled with a mixture of burnt clutch, exhaust and tire smoke as the night progressed. At times spectators couldn't even see the track.
The sled was designed to slow any vehicle and was built by Mark Valentine of Royal City.
The machine travels to sled pulls throughout the state.
More than $3000 dollars in cash and prizes were up for grabs in six truck divisions that drew 30 entrants.
This was the final event of the season for the Columbia Basin Sled Pullers, the next event is scheduled for the Grant County Spring Fair and Home Show in March.
