Selah Vikings slips past Ephrata Tigers

EPHRATA - The Selah Vikings held the Ephrata Tigers on fourth-and-two with less than a minute to play to earn the Central Washington Athletic Conference victory.

With the game on the line, Ephrata head football coach Jay Mills was trying to get his team into field goal range for Eric Hensley and possibly the victory.

The Vikings defense remained strong as it held the Tigers offense and sealed the 14-13 victory for Selah in a rain-soaked game.

Ephrata senior quarterback Eric Tinnell ran 15 times for 85 yards, including a 63-yard touchdown for Ephrata. Tinnell's touchdown run was Ephrata's only touchdown of the game as Hensley added two field goals.

Selah quarterback Justin Windsor was 14 of 29 passing for 175 yards and two touchdowns.

Cusick 38, ACH 12

COULEE CITY - The Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors could not recover from a 14-0 halftime deficit and a 22-0 fourth-quarter deficit as the defending Washington state 1B state champions lost their first game of the season.

Cusick dominated the Warriors through the air, scoring on touchdown passes for each of their first three scores.

ACH narrowed the Cusick lead to 22-6, before the Panthers scored to make it 30-6. The Warriors scored again in the fourth quarter to cut the Cusick lead to 30-12.

The Panthers would again respond to an ACH touchdown with a score of their own as Cusick knocked off the ACH Warriors 38-12 on the road.

Odessa 46, Wellpinit 0

WELLPINIT - The Odessa Tigers jumped on top of the Wellpinit Redskins early and never looked back as the Tigers earned the 1B football victory.

Odessa scored three touchdowns in each of the game's first two quarters as the Tigers raced out to a 46-0 halftime lead and victory.

According to Washington Interscholastic Activities Association rules, in 1B football if either team leads by 45-points or more following halftime the game is over.

Lind-Ritzville 33, Republic 7

RITZVILLE - Lind-Ritzville running back Nolan Miller led the Broncos to a conference victory over rival Republic Friday night.

Miller ran 16 times for 107 yards and three touchdowns as Lind-Ritzville held off the Tigers 33-7.

The Broncos ran out to a 26-0 halftime lead as they earned their first Bi-County 2B conference win of the season.

Miller scored on runs of 1-, 11- and 8-yards. Miller's first touchdown run gave the Broncos a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. Lind-Ritzville would add to that lead when tight end Cory Whitmore caught a 46-yard touchdown pass from Geoffrey Eastman to give the Broncos a 13-0 first-quarter lead.

The Broncos doubled their lead in the second quarter following touchdown runs from Miller and Micah Brown.

Lind Ritzville would score again in the fourth quarter to earn the 33-7 victory.

Othello 56, Grandview 0

GRANDVIEW - Othello senior quarterback Marc Garza accounted for four touchdowns Friday night as the Huskies routed Central Washington Athletic Conference rival Grandview on the road.

Garza threw for two touchdowns and ran for another two to lead Othello.

The Huskies jumped on the scoreboard first in the first quarter following a 22-yard touchdown pass from Garza to David Felice to give Othello a 7-0 halftime lead.

Garza's second touchdown came on a 12-yard scoring run which game Othello a 14-0 lead in the second quarter. The Huskies would take a 21-0 lead into halftime following a 27-yard touchdown pass from Marc Garza to Michael Garza.

The Huskies would score 21 third-quarter points and another 14 in the fourth quarter to complete the rout of the Greyhounds.

Garza finished the night with 11 of 16 passing for 216 yards in the victory.

Soap Lake 28, Bridgeport 6

SOAP LAKE - The Eagles of Soap Lake jumped on top of Bridgeport early as the Eagles ran to victory.

Soap Lake sophomore quarterback Kyler Moats finished the night 12 of 19 passing for 170 yards and two touchdowns.

The Eagles totaled 258 rushing yards against the Mustangs, including 93 yards from Tyler Hammer on 15 carries.

Soap Lake wide receiver David Careas caught three passes for 71 yards and a touchdown. Careas' touchdown came on Soap Lake's first play.

The Eagles defense played well as Bridgeport was unable to complete a pass in the loss.

Ellensburg 57, Quincy 0

QUINCY - The Ellensburg Bulldogs jumped out to an early 28-0 halftime lead as Ellensburg rolled over the Quincy Jacks.

The Bulldogs scored six rushing touchdowns Friday night as the Jacks fell to 0-5 this season.

The Quincy Jacks host the Wapato Wolves Friday night. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
