Moses Lake men injured in shooting
Police impounded suspect vehicle
MOSES LAKE - Three Moses Lake men were hit with pellets from a shotgun Sunday night on Sunny Drive Northeast in Moses Lake.
A 35-year-old was struck in the head from gunfire, Police Chief Dean Mitchell said. He was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for treatment and is in critical condition.
A 28-year-old man was struck in the head and arm with pellets, and was treated and released from Samaritan Healthcare.
A 19-year-old male was hit in the hand by gunfire, Mitchell said. He was treated and released from Samaritan Healthcare.
According to witnesses, a white 1996 Pontiac Trans Am drove by the Sunny Drive residence and several shots were fired from inside the vehicle toward the residence, Mitchell said. The three men who were struck by gunfire were in the front yard during a large gathering where several other people were visiting.
The suspect vehicle was located outside the city limits at an undisclosed location and was impounded. Police are working to obtain a search warrant.
No arrests were made and Mitchell said there are people of interest.
The incident could be gang-related, he added.
Mitchell said witnesses to the incident are not cooperating and the incident remains under investigation.
Monday, law enforcement set up tape along two ends of Sunny Drive. Mitchell said law enforcement used a laser measuring device to take calculations and measurements at the scene.
He said it is the same equipment Washington State Patrol uses during accident investigations.
"We just blocked (the road) off so we wouldn't have to deal with traffic there," Mitchell said.
