Lions top Broncos

MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake Christian overcame a an early deficit against the visiting Lind-Ritzville Broncos to earn the match victory in five games.

The Broncos stopped the Lions in game one with a 25-21 victory before Moses Lake Christian tied the match with a 25-15 win.

Lind-Ritzville regained the one-game advantage following their 25-21 victory in game three.

Moses Lake Christian would rally again to tie the match with a 25-18 victory to tie the match at 2-2.

The Lions earned the match victory with a 15-8 victory in the match's fifth and deciding game.

Moses Lake head coach Dean Spurbeck said he was proud of his team's victory.

"I thought we played pretty well," he said. "It was a pretty tough match."

Despite falling behind early, Spurbeck said his team held together.

"We held our composer through all five games," he said. "They are in a league above us so it was nice to get the win."

Spurbeck said his team is improving with every game.

"Our defense is getting stronger," he said. "We are getting stuff up we don't normally get up."

Kaylee Firouzi led Moses Lake Christian with 25 assists and Esther Timofeyev had 22 kills and 15 digs.

Rebecca Verhage also had six kills, five aces and 13 digs.
