WILSON CREEK - Wilson Creek is offering activities, entertainment and breakfast Saturday at Harvest Fest.

The event is at the Wilson Creek City Park on Railroad Street, between Third Street and Fourth Street.

Mayor Kathy Bohnet said Harvest Fest is an annual event.

"It may be wet and windy, but we're going to have it anyway," Bohnet said.

Registration for a fun run/walk, sponsored by Future Business Leaders of America, is at 7:30 a.m. at Wilson Creek School. The school is located at 400 Navar St.

Other events take place at the park.

A fire district breakfast is from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. A kiddies' parade starts at 10 a.m., followed by a Harvest Fest parade at 10:15 a.m.

A quilt show is from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"It's our first annual quilt show, and we've had a really good response to quilt entries," said committee member Kellie Ribail.

Quilts are on display, including vintage quilts, Ribail said.

An FFA barbecue is at noon. Danny James is providing live music during the barbecue.

Craft booths, student-sponsored games and booths, junior high school outhouse races, a horseshoe tournament, and a pony plop are some other event features.

Students are selling cotton candy, popcorn, coffee and hot chocolate, Ribail said.

The pony plop is a chance to win money in an unconventional way.

People can purchase squares on the ground.

"Wherever the pony 'plops,' the winner gets the pot (of money)," Ribail said.

The outhouse races consist of students racing appliance boxes made to look like outhouses, she said.

"Everybody's welcome," Bohnet said. "The more the merrier."

Event committee members are Ribail, Cori Kane, Kit Fredere, Linda McKay and Jessie True.
