MOSES LAKE - With the 2008 Moses Lake football season concluded, the Chiefs football family gathered Tuesday night to celebrate another successful season of Chiefs football.

As players, coaches and family members gathered, a highlight film and slide show played on the screen in the Moses Lake Commons.

The highlight film helped all in attendance remember the high points of a season in which the Moses Lake Chiefs would host just the third playoff game in Lions Field history.

The Chiefs finished the season with a 5-5 record and ultimately a second place finish in the Columbia Basin Big Nine Conference's Columbia Division.

A talented senior class led Moses Lake to the postseason as 11 seniors earned All-Big Nine Columbia Division recognition for their efforts on the football field.

Moses Lake senior quarterback Josh Loera led the Chiefs with his second consecutive offensive player of the year award.

Loera was a first team All-Big Nine Columbia Division quarterback.

Seniors Matt Harris, Jobette Guerra, Billy Brice and Michael Thomas each were first team selections.

While Moses Lake will graduate 11 All-Big Nine Columbia Division players, the Chiefs have a solid foundation for next season.

Moses Lake will return six juniors who were also All-Big Nine Columbia Division picks.

As head coach Greg Kittrell addressed the crowd before handing out awards, he told those in attendance how proud he was of the Chiefs.

"I would take them anytime, anywhere," he said.

The Chiefs QB Club awarded a $500 college scholarship to senior wide receiver Billy Brice for his dedication to Moses Lake High School.

Chiefs QB Club President Brian Dano said the scholarship winner was voted on by the Moses Lake Coaches.

"We asked the coaches to pick a graduating senior who personifies the program," he said.

Brice was a unanimous first team All-Big Nine Columbia Division selection at wide receiver and led the Big Nine in receptions with 56 and has a 4.0 grade point average.

The Chiefs football team also voted Brice the most inspirational player Tuesday night.
