MOSES LAKE - Downtown Moses Lake is embracing the holidays Saturday with an annual Street Tree Lighting.

Third Avenue is closed from Alder Street to Beech Street for the event, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event is offered by Moses Lake Business Association and LakeTown Landing merchants.

Volunteers from Moses Lake Business Association, Qwest Communications, Northland Cable and Genie Industries helped install decorations along Third Avenue including banners and wreaths, said business association Executive Director Marianne Bondi.

Lights are ready to be turned on at 6 p.m., Bondi said. Anyone in the community can switch on the lights to a tree, she said.

Entertainment is offered from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

"The entertainment will include The Spinners, which are an old-time group that will use the harmonica, organ and guitar to entertain us with their fantastic music, to include old favorites and Christmas music," Bondi said. "The Rock'n B Cloggers will also be on hand to show us their lively dance routines that keep the blood flowing."

After the tree lighting at 6 p.m., "A Christmas Story" is going to be shown in Sinkiuse Square.

Superior Refrigeration Products and the Moses Lake Pirates Baseball Club is serving free chili during the evening.

Bondi said the movie and chili feed are new offerings.
