Quincy man shot in stomach
Police investigate suspects
QUINCY - A 23-year-old Quincy man is in critical condition after he was shot in the stomach Saturday morning.
The male was reportedly struck with bird shot discharged from a 12 gauge shotgun, Grant County Undersheriff John Turley said Tuesday.
The victim was reportedly at a party in a home on Third Avenue in Quincy.
Police saw approximately four to five people fleeing from the residence after the shooting, he said citing a Quincy Police Department report.
The sheriff's office is assisting Quincy police with the investigation and communications with the media.
Police were in the area near the residence responding to a separate disturbance call, he said. Officers responded to the residence after the shooting was reported.
The shooting victim was taken to Quincy Valley Hospital for treatment and was later transported to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, where a surgery was performed, Turley said.
The details of the incident are under investigation and it is unclear who discharged the shotgun and why. Law enforcement continues to conduct interviews with witnesses, he said.
The Columbia Basin Herald was unable to reach Quincy Police Chief Bill Gonzales for comment due to the Veterans Day holiday.
