Samaritan Healthcare Respiratory Therapist Gary Lynch (left) and Community Development Coordinator Dave Campbell attach a yellow ribbon to a tree Monday in recognition of Veterans Day.

More than 50 ribbons are on display at the hospital. Community Relations Coordinator Connie Opheikens helped organize the event, which was suggested by Lynch. Lynch, who served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1972, said a similar event was held at his former workplace. "It was a huge success," he said. "People were driving by, honking their horns." Quality Improvement Director Gwen Cox, also a veteran, helped install ribbons, along with Education Director Jackie Johnston and Respiratory Care Supervisor Margie Stansbury. The ribbons will be on display until Thursday or Friday, Opheikens said. A display in the hospital lobby will show photographs of Samaritan employees who served in the military, through Thursday.
