National Guard presents award to Staples employee

MOSES LAKE - Providing good customer service paid off for one Staples employee in Moses Lake.

Forrest Garcia, a copy and print center specialist, received a certificate of appreciation from the National Guard on Friday.

Sgt. Justin Morris said they get people to submit names of people who support the troops.

In this case, the government agreed, he said. The last time the award was given to an area resident was when it was given to Moses Lake High School Principal Dave Balcom.

Morris and Staff Sgt. D. J. Jenkins said Garcia always takes extra time to make sure the job is done right, including proofing documents and business cards.

"It's important in this day and age that when you get excellent customer service that you reward it," Jenkins said.

Garcia, who has worked at Staples for three years, said he was honored to receive the award.

"My goal as far as customer service is to achieve the best that I can for people," he said. "My goal is to make life easier for everybody. I try to help everyone."

Kevin Donovan, the store manager, said Garcia was a great asset to the store.

"We wanted to take notice of the stores that support the troops," Jenkins said.
