Warden reaches postseason

Lady Cougars sweep Panthers, Coyotes

WARDEN - The Warden Lady Cougars volleyball team capitalized on a three-game sweep of River View Thursday night to catapult themselves into the South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC) playoffs.

The Lady Cougars stopped River View 25-8, 25-5 and 15-15 to earn the league victory and finish 5-7 in league play.

Emma Bisnett had two kills, one block and one ace for Warden. Amanda Martinez led the way with six assists and Kim McPartland had seven digs.

With the win, Warden found themselves tied with Columbia-Burbank for the fourth and final playoff spot in the SCAC's East Division, said Warden head volleyball coach Jeff Kottong.

"We are tied with Columbia-Burbank for fourth place in league," he said. "There will be a tie-breaker game on Saturday at the Connell High School Gym."

The Lady Cougars followed Thursday night's sweep of River View with a sweep of the Columbia-Burbank Coyotes to clinch the final playoff spot from the SCAC's East Division.

Warden won 27-25, 25-19 and 25-23 to earn the victory and the fourth seed.

Junior Kacey Kisler led Warden with six kills in the win. She also had one block, four aces and seven digs. Bisnett added four kills, one block and three aces.

Martinez led the Lady Cougars with 13 assists and Jenny Guerra had six aces at the service line for Warden.

Warden will travel to Connell High School Tuesday night to take on SCAC West Division first seed Goldendale at 7 p.m in gym one.

The Royal Lady Knights earned the third seed from the SCAC East Division and will take on SCAC West Division two seed Granger at 7 p.m. Tuesday night at Connell High School in gym two.
