Election filing begins Monday

Several positions available for election

COLUMBIA BASIN - The filing date to run for Adams and Grant County elected offices begins Monday and ends Friday at 5 p.m.

Two Adams County commissioner positions are open for election.

Position one is currently filled by Rudy Plager and position two is filled by Roger Hartwig.

To file for a county commissioner position, applicants must live in the appropriate district and be a registered voter.

An Adams County Superior Court judge position is up for election. It is currently filled by Richard W. Miller.

To file for the judge position, applicants must live in the county, be a registered voter and be a registered attorney.

Two State House of Representatives positions are up for election.

Mark Schoesler, R-Ritzville, and Joe Schmick, R-Colfax, the incumbents for the pending election. Both announced their candidacy earlier this month.

Applicants are required to live in the appropriate district and be a registered voter.

Two Grant County commissioner positions are open.

Position one currently filled by Richard Stevens and position two currently filled by LeRoy Allison are open for election.

Allison announced his plans to run for election earlier this month.

To file for a county commissioner position, applicants are required to live in the district and must be a registered voter.

Two Grant County Public Utility District commission positions are open.

Position three is currently held by Randy Alred and position A at large is held by Tom Flint.

Flint announced his candidacy earlier this month.

To file for a PUD commissioner position, applicants are required to live in the appropriate district and be a registered voter.

Three Grant County Superior Court judge positions are available.

Position one is currently held by Evan Sperline, position two is held by Ken Jorgensen and position three is held by John Antosz.

Sperline, Antosz, attorney Douglas Anderson and Grant County Prosecutor John Knodell announced their candidacies.

Jorgensen is not running for another term.

To run for judge, applicants are required to live in the county, be a registered voter and must be an attorney.

Two state House of Representatives positions are open for election.

Position one is currently held by Judy Warnick, R-Moses Lake, and position two is held by Bill Hinkle, R-Cle Elum.

To run for a representative position, applicants must live within the appropriate district and be a registered voter.

The Fourth Congressional District position is up for election and currently held by Doc Hastings, R-Moses Lake.

Hastings and George Fearing, D-Richland, announced their candidacy for the position earlier this year.

To run for the office, applicants must live within the district and be a registered voter.
