| May 29, 2008 9:00 PM

POULSBO - CB United 95 Navy, a girls U13 team from the Columbia Basin United soccer club, competed in the 24th annual Viking Cup Tournament over Memorial Day weekend bringing home the runner-up title.

In the preliminary round, they tied South Seattle's Highline Premier Eagles Blue team 1-1. They then went on to beat the Dosveedana White team from Kent 1-0. The win placed the girls in the semifinal to take on the Bainbridge Blue Momentum team who were dominated by the girls on both ends of the field.

The 3-1 victory over Bainbridge set up a championship game against the Highline Premier team that they tied in the first round.

The rains that dominated the tournament stopped in time for the final setting up play on a sloppy field. At the half the scored was tied 0-0; halfway through the second half Highline scored a long shot goal that sealed the CB United Girls fate and bringing an end to their championship hopes.
