Othello High School to host camps

| May 28, 2008 9:00 PM

OTHELLO - Collegiate (folkstyle) wrestling tournaments are getting underway in Othello in early June.

Othello High school will be open four consecutive Thursdays beginning June 5 to help wrestlers from the seventh grade through the seniors prepare for the upcoming wrestling camps. Tournament director Ruben Martinez said the wrestling nights are "pretty casual" and are a good way for kids to "get conditioned" for the camps that are much more competitive later in the summer. The "practice field" attitude helps the kids, Martinez said, and the parents "are the coaches."

In addition to Othello participants Martinez expects wrestlers from Ephrata, Moses Lake and the Tri-Cities.

Registration and weigh-ins are from 4 to 5 p.m. with wrestling to start at 5:30. Registration is $5 and participants must fill out a waiver.

For more information contact Ruben Martinez at 509-331-8898.
