Big Nine recognizes Moses Lake baseball

MOSES LAKE - 2008 4A Big Nine All Conference Nominations were recently announced and six players from the Moses Lake Chiefs baseball team were honored for their on-field play this season.

Jacob Lacelle, Aaron Morice, Troy Stephens, Blaine Myers, Drew Martin and Brock Lybbert were nominated by Coach Ed McNamara.

"They all put on a good show in the league," McNamara said.

Selections for each position are voted on by the coaches. The player who received the most votes is named to the first team, the player receiving the next highest number of votes is named to the second team and the third highest is given an honorable mention.

"All those guys deserved it," McNamara said. It was a "pretty good deal," he added, that they all got what they deserved.

First team

Senior outfielder Aaron Morice: .516 average and .636 on-base percentage; 31 at-bats and 16 hits

Senior pitcher Troy Stevens: 2-2 with a 3.35 ERA and 20 strikeouts

Second team

Junior infielder Blaine Myers: .414 average and .454 on-base percentage; 29 at-bats and 12 hits

Honorable mention

Senior catcher Jacob Lacelle: .385 average and .457 on-base percentage; 26 at-bats and 10 hits

Senior pitcher Drew Martin: 3-2 with a 6.43 ERA and 20 strikeouts

Junior relief pitcher Brock Lybbert: 2-1 with a 5.57 ERA and 17 strikeouts
