Marilyn Gene Morris
Marilyn Gene Morris, 80, of Quincy, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2008, at the Quincy Valley Convalescent Center after a long illness.
She was born on Jan. 30, 1928, to D. T. and Katherine Martin in Wenatchee. Marilyn attended and graduated from Quincy High School and went on to graduate from Washington State University with a degree in speech. She was president of her sorority, Kappa Delta, and forevermore a die-hard Cougar fan.
She married G. T. (Gerry) Morris on Aug. 20, 1949, at Ohme Gardens in Wenatchee. They moved to Quincy where Gerry joined D. T. Martin in the insurance business. Marilyn was preceded in death by Gerry in 1982.
Competitive golf games at Crescent Bar and Moses Lake, bridge, Wednesday cocktails and cooking elaborate meals are every bit a part of Marilyn's life. She was spirited, competitive and refreshingly straightforward. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and there was no question of her love for them.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Curt and Ann Morris of Quincy and Scott and Marsha Morris of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Lindsey and Matt Lawrence of Redmond, Jerry Morris of Quincy, Taylor and David Morris of Phoenix, Ariz.
A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 19, at the Sunfire Grill, Crescent Bar.
Scharbach's Columbia Funeral Chapel in Quincy is in charge of arrangements.
