Four injured in high-speed collision

Driver believed to be under the influence

MOSES LAKE - Four people were injured in a collision in Moses Lake Sunday night at the intersection of Alder and Broadway.

Richard W. Abshire, 41, Savannah, Ga., was traveling eastbound on Broadway Avenue in an SUV and reportedly struck a southbound vehicle on Alder Street.

Witnesses reportedly told police Abshire was traveling at a high rate of speed and ignored a stoplight.

Donald E. Haley, 50, Moses Lake, was traveling in a 2008 Toyota Camry when he was struck by Abshire, according to a police report. Haley had a green light.

It appeared Abshire was drinking alcohol previous to the collision, police advised.

Both drivers were reportedly injured. David J. Ellender, 41, Lake Charles, La., and Sara M. Sparadeo, 30, Lake Charles, La., were passengers in Abshire's vehicle and were also injured.

Information about their injuries was not available.

Citations have not been issued as the incident remains under investigation.
