Alfred A. Conner

Alfred A. Conner, a Moses Lake resident for 57 years, died Thursday, May 15, 2008, in the LakeRidge Special Care Center at Moses Lake. He was 88.

Alfred was born Dec. 26, 1919, at Iola, Kan., to Isaac and Effie (Vanderslice) Conner. On Jan. 12, 1941, he married Evelyn M. Funston in Iola. They lived in Kansas until 1951 when they moved with their three children to Moses Lake. His wife of 67 years survives him at the family home. He is also survived by his three children: Jerry of Moses Lake, Max (Denise) of Richland, Wash.; and Donnis Lord (Phil) Alberts of Aurora, Colo. His surviving siblings are Earl (Dorothy "Pud") Conner of Bronson, Kan.; Harold "Dutch" (Mary) Conner of Lawrence, Kan.; Dorothy (Harold) Aldrich of Moses Lake; Opal (Don) Chastain of Savonsburg, Kan.; and Ruby (John) Hoggatt of Mesa, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his sister Nora and brother Edward. He is survived by grandchildren: Deborah Conner, Jeremy (Tammy) Conner, Joshua Conner; and Jason Conner; and Stacey Lehman-Garcia (Junior) Garcia, Loren "Dean" Lord, Nicole "Nikki" (Ricky) Lord; 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation time for family and friends will be held Thursday, May 22 from 8 a.m. to noon at Kayser's Chapel of Memories, 831 South Pioneer Way, Moses Lake. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 22 with burial following at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake.
