Warden boys' postseason play ends

MOSES LAKE - Larson Playfield played host to South Central Athletic Conference 1A action Saturday as division three teams battled both the heat and fierce competition for the right to play in the state championships.

In the first game of the day, the Connell Eagles were defeated by the Friday Harbor Wolverines by a score of 4-1. The Wolverines had four runs on 11 hits and five errors. The Eagles scored one run on seven hits and a single error.

Game two saw the Cougars of Warden defeated 11-3 by the Freeman Scotties in a loser-out game. Warden scored two runs in the first inning and one in the third. Freeman scored one run in the first and continued making runs every inning.

"Our kids did all we asked of them," Warden coach Dan Caballero said. "They never hung their heads," he added of the season in which "they fought up through the last inning."
