Othello girls win tourney

OTHELLO - The 2A District 5/6 softball tournament took place on Saturday at Othello's Lyons Field. The Othello Lady Huskies dominated the tournament to win the championship.

In round one action, Othello blew out Selah 10-5 in five innings. Ellensburg defeated East Valley 2-0, Quincy beat Prosser 7-3 in a loser-out contest and Ephrata prevailed over Grandview 11-5 with loser out, according to Pete Patitucci, the Othello school district athletic director.

In the second round of the playoffs, East Valley defeated Ephrata 10-0 with loser out and Selah beat Quincy 9-0 loser out.

East Valley advanced, beating Selah 1-0 and Othello defeated Ellensburg 5-0, making the Huskies District 5/6 champions.

Othello takes on Cedarcrest at the WIAA/Dairy Farmers of Washington/Les Schwab Tires 2A Softball Championships at Carlon Park in Selah on Friday.
