Lady Chiefs stumble in playoffs
SPOKANE - The Moses Lake Lady Chiefs made the trip to Spokane for the 4A district playoffs.
The fourth place Chiefs took on the Greater Spokane League champion, Shadle Park, on Friday. The ladies were held scoreless in a 0-1 game that saw pitcher Shayla May spoil the no-hitter.
Moses Lake coach Dave Gregory called it a "great game" despite the loss.
Game two against Walla Walla was a game in which they "got behind early" according to Gregory and lost 3-6 in the loser-out game.
Gregory said the heat played a factor in the game but it's "no excuse" as all the teams had to deal with the same conditions.
Those conditions led to many of the "one run games" as evidenced by the 1-0 championship game between Shadle Park and Richland in which Shadle Park prevailed.
