Ephrata golf finishes as district champs

RICHLAND - The Central Washington Athletic Conference held the 2A District 5/6 golf tournament at the Horn Rapids Golf Course in Richland on Monday. Teams from Ephrata, Selah, Ellensburg, Othello, East Valley, Quincy, Wapato, Prosser, Grandview and Toppenish competed on the par 72 championship course.

The team from Ephrata shot a low score of 340 followed by Othello at 364 and Quincy at 415.

Zach Heaton of Ellensburg was the medalist, shooting the low score of 75. Matt Pixlee was second medalist with a score of 81.

The Ephrata team finished the season in first place and are the district champions for the second year in a row, according to golf coach Greg Hewitt. The Tigers are sending Matt Pixlee, Chase Millard, Austin Key, Steven Lund and Cameron Allen to play next at the WIAA State Golf Tournament at the Loomis Trail Golf Course in Blaine.

Othello duffers Sam Para and Jared Kummer will represent the Huskies at the state tournament.
