Lady Chiefs continue in districts

| May 12, 2008 9:00 PM

MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Lady Chiefs hosted two games at Larson Playfield as they continued in the 4A fastpitch district championships. In game one of the tournament to determine further seeding, the Lady Chiefs were defeated by Walla Walla 6-3. The Chiefs scored their only run in the sixth inning, with Gabrielle Vasquez going 3-for-4 in the game.

In game two the Lady Chiefs took on the girls from Pasco who defeated them 6-3. Pasco scored first in the second inning, followed by five more runs in the fourth. Moses Lake scored three in the fifth inning but was unable to close the gap.

The losses placed Moses Lake in fourth place in the division, and that's good news as far as coach Dave Gregory is concerned.

"There's only eight teams left on this side of the mountains, and we're one of them," he said.

The Lady Chiefs next play the number one seed from the Greater Spokane League in the 4A Regionals Friday and Saturday at Franklin Field in Spokane.
