Juan J. Reyes

Juan J. Reyes, 74, longtime Warden resident who relocated to Moses Lake eight years ago, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane.

Funeral Services will be held at the Warden Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10. Viewing before the service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Additional visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, May 12 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Benson's Funeral Home, 104 W 5th Avenue, Moses Lake.

Juan was bom in Crystal City, Texas on Nov. 5, 1933. He was a hardworking migrant farmworker between Texas and various northern states, before settling in Warden in the early 1960s. Juan and his brothers owned Reyes Brothers Custom Corn Chopping and Trucking. Later he worked for Skone and Connors. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Rosendo Reyes and Enriqueta (Jalomo) Reyes and by his very beloved niece, Juanita Lopez. Juan is survived by his brothers, Roberto and Jose Angel Reyes, as well as his daughter, Enriqueta (Katie) Reyes. Juan was one of those rare special individuals who raised along with his daughter, four other children whom he became "Dad" to: Enrique Estrada, Xavier Estrada, Consuelo (Estrada) Cervantes and Diana Estrada. He has 21 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two close cousins, Maria (Jalomo) Gonzales and Daniel Jalomo, who lived here in Washington and many others who live in Texas and numerous nephews and nieces. Juan enjoyed pitching baseball, fishing and camping, visiting Texas, and in later years he loved driving his grandchildren, Alex and A.J. Montes, to and from school and sports practices daily. He will be missed by all.
