MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Sunrise Rotary hosted their 28th annual Hawaiian theme fund-raiser event Saturday night.

Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Debbie Doran-Martinez said 172 people attended the event.

She said she was excited about the high number of attendance. Her goal was to have 190 people attend the event.

Doran-Martinez also has a goal of raising more money than last year's event. Last year approximately $30,000 was raised.

There were 82 silent auction items and 39 live auction items.

All the items are donated and 25 more items were collected this year, she said.

The auction items included wine sets, vacations, desserts, photo packages, dental procedures, baseball tickets and office equipment.

There was also a "Catch of the Day" event. Participants purchased fish and the person whose fish was caught received one of four prizes which included a laptop, a GPS navigation system and gift certificates.

Doran-Martinez said she felt hopeful the fund-raiser brought in more money than last year's event due to the high attendance and extra donations.

It was unclear how much money was raised at the event. She said the funds would be counted later this week.
