James (Jim) Edward Prchal

James (Jim) Edward Prchal, 59, of Royal City passed away on Saturday March 22, 2008, suddenly at home.

He was born on April 7, 1948, to Raymond and Mary Prchal in Nampa, Idaho. He was raised on their family farm north of Nampa. In 1961, his parents moved to a farm in Ephrata. He graduated from Ephrata High School in 1966 and began farming in the Ephrata area. In 1970, Jim moved to San Jose, Calif., to work as a fabricator until he moved back to George in 1971. He then worked for Lamb Weston in Quincy and Connell where he met his future wife Joan Bernard. On April 8, 1972, Jim and Joan were married in Quincy where they lived and worked. They moved to Ephrata in 1980 where they owned and operated a hay trucking company. In 1990 they moved to Royal City where they purchased a farm and continued their trucking company. Since January 1994, Jim has worked for Golden West Farms/Spud Brown Farms in Royal City as an irrigator.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years Joan Prchal; his children Anne (Joe) Carter of Ephrata, Jill (Brett) Tonne of Ephrata, and Sara-Jane Prchal of Royal City; grandchildren Thomas and Shelby Carter of Ephrata; brothers and sisters Janice (Greg) Peterson of Ephrata, Dorothy (Gene) Paul of Wenatchee, Jerry (Paulette) Prchal of Quincy, Barbara (Herb) Horton of East Wenatchee, Dennis (Deana Gardner) Prchal of Moses Lake, Kathleen (Joseph) Weinand of Reardon, and David (Robin) Prchal of Quincy; aunt Loretta (John) Kaczanowski of Bethlehem, Pa.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by both parents Raymond and Mary Prchal.

A Rosary Service will be held at 7 p.m. on March 27, 2008, at Scharbach's Columbia Funeral Home in Quincy. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on March 28, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Quincy with a memorial luncheon following. Family inurnment services will take place at a later time.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to US Bank under the James E. Prchal Memorial Fund.
