Francis Junior Grant (Frank)

Francis Junior Grant (Frank), a longtime Quincy resident, died on March 13, 2008, in Moses Lake.

He was born May 23, 1924, in Culver, Ore. He proudly served our country oversees during WW II in the Army Air Corp as a staff sergeant, radioman and gunner. After a 13-day courtship, he married Nelda, his wife of 63 years, in Fort Worth Texas on Aug. 11, 1945. They had two daughters, Linda and Pam, and lived in Madras, Ore., before moving to Quincy in 1951.

Frank helped to level farmland and build Dodson Road as well as helping to build forest roads on Mt. Adams. He also donated time and equinment to belp build the football field and the Quincy Cemetery. He worked for the City of Quincy, served as a volunteer fireman and fire chief and ultimately retired from Quincy Farrn Chemicals. He was also a charter member of the Moose Lodge and a member of the Lions Club. Frank was extremely proud of his family and has left a hole in all of our hearts.

He is survived by his wife Nelda of Moses Lake, daughter Linda (Grant Barnett) Duckworth (Gary) of Vancouver, Wash., daughter Pamela (Grant) Massey (Doug) of Quincy, his grandchildren Kevin Barnett (Kara) of Puyallup, Wash., Kelly Barnett of Vancouver, Wash., Michael Massey (Kristina) of Kennewick, Shawna (Massey) Rookstool (Todd) of Quincy, and Kristina (Barnett) Cook of Vancouver, Wash., and his great-grandchildren Johnathan Cook, MaKayla and MaKinna Holloway, Madeline Massey, Dylan Barnett, Meredith Massey, Clark Rookstool, Margot Massey and Maureen Massey. He is also survived by his brother Boyd (Fran) Grant of Moses Lake and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Frank S. Grant, his mother Birdie (Jenkins Grant) Atkins, stepfather Herb Atkins, and brother Glen Grant.

Memorial service will be held at the Quincy Free Methodist Church on April 5 at 11 a.m. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Paws and Claws of Quincy.
