MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Chiefs boys tennis team ran their season record to 2-0 with a 6-1 smashing of the visiting Sunnyside Grizzlies on Tuesday.
Moses Lake lost just two games in the seven matches, and both came in Paul Asfour's and Derek McMains' 2-6, 6-1, 3-6 defeat to Sunnyside's Anthony Rodriguez and Jonas Linde in the No. 2 doubles match.
The Chiefs swept the singles matches, beginning with top-seeded Ben Nye's 6-0, 6-0 pummeling of Matt Johnson. No. 2 seed Adrian Juarez beat Jorge Pachero 6-1, 6-0, No. 3 seed Connor Lange downed Jay Kim 6-0, 6-1, and No. 4 seed Andy Su defeated Randy DeRuyter 6-3, 6-0.
Moses Lake's top doubles duo of David Asfour and Danny Reis beat Mike Martin and Joey Ziljster 6-2, 6-0. The No. 3 team of Ethan Hall and Kyle Livingston had no trouble with Anthony Aguilar and Spencer Jaquish, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Othello 3, Selah 2
OTHELLO - Three strong doubles efforts propelled the Huskies over the Vikings in Central Washington Athletic Conference action.
Othello's No. 1 team of TD Peterson and Sam Harris beat Selah's Cody Alliston and Colten Welch 7-5, 7-5. The second-seeded team of Judah Gowan and Ryley Petersen downed Craig Beard and Joel Freeborn (6-2, 6-3). The No. 3 squad of David Charles and Parker Davis wailed on Chris Simonds and Ethan Ward (6-1, 6-0).
Selah took both singles matches, starting with top seed Deven Teske's 6-4, 6-1 win over Adam Beus. At No. 2, Kevin Bertelsen rallied to beat Raymond Rodriguez (2-6, 6-3, 6-1).
Ephrata 3, Quincy 2
QUINCY - Doubles was the difference for the Tigers in Tuesday's CWAC win over the rival Jackrabbits.
Ephrata's No. 1 team of Todd Harr and Tyler Van Heusven took out Quincy's Skyler Perez and Jonathan Velasquez 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, Lance Nicholson and Connors Sears beat Michael Garcia and Javier Gordillo 6-3, 6-3.
The Tigers' No. 3 team of Jamie Alvarado and Chris Norris provided the winning margin, earning a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 win over Garrett Van Dyke and Brett Stewart.
The Jacks started the day well with a sweep of the singles matches. No. 1 seed Blake Van Dyke whipped Stephen Mather 6-0, 6-0, and No. 2 seed Jose Amador was a 6-0, 6-3 winner over Michael Slippen.
Royal 2, Cle Elum-Roslyn 2
ROYAL CITY - The Knights and Warriors finished up in a dead heat during their South Central Athletic Conference matchup.
At No. 1 singles, Royal's Candy Peraza earned a 6-2, 7-5 decision over D.J. Landes. The Knights' other win came at No. 2 doubles, where Lucas Warren and Chase Hebdon teamed up for a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Chaz Mipple and Curtis Ehly.
Cle Elum-Roslyn evened things up courtesy of two doubles wins. The Warriors got a forfeit win in the No. 3 match, and the No. 1 duo of Greg Strom and C.J. Strom defeated Royal's Michael Hebdon and Ben Singer 6-3, 1-6, 6-4. There was no second singles match.
Sprague-Harrington 2, Wilson Creek 1
HARRINGTON - Kevin Trepanier picked up the Devils' lone win in a Tuesday afternoon non-league outing with the Falcons.
Trepanier, Wilson Creek's No. 1 single, defeated Paul Cadena 8-4. The Devils lost both doubles matches, beginning with Patrick Trepanier and Jacob Treat's 8-2 setback to the Falcons' Ryan Allumbaugh and Mike Millard. S-H took the team victory as Allumbaugh and Daniel Mann defeated Brandon Melvin and Justin Monk, 8-6.
Wilson Creek's match with Tonasket on Thursday has been cancelled, coach Mike Ottis said.
Othello 3, Selah 2
OTHELLO - The Huskies got strong performances in doubles to rally for a win over the Vikings in CWAC action.
Othello's Jessy Schmidt and Jadee Roylance played a wild match at No. 1 doubles, beating Alicia Cikauskos and Tana Wentz 6-2, 6-7 (3-7), 6-0.
The No. 2 team of Kayla Spohr and Jody Walker handled Taylor Thompson and Jessica Martin 6-2, 6-2, while the third team of Ashleigh Snyder and Vanessa Montemayor whipped Rene Hausske and Taurie Thomas, 6-1, 6-2.
The Vikings swept the singles matches, beginning with top-seeded Lauren Casey's 6-0, 6-3 win over Scherry Leudhardt. At No. 2, Selah's Shelby Welch defeated Priscilla Cantu (4-6, 6-2, 6-3).
Quincy 3, Ephrata 2
QUINCY - In an exciting CWAC battle, the Lady Jackrabbits got a pair of three-set wins in doubles that proved to be the difference.
At No. 1 doubles, Quincy's Courtney Felder and Kaloni Young pulled off a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Ayla Wyman and Edna Trejo. The Jacks' No. 2 team of Kristen Bierlink and Bonnie Knodell also went to three, beating Martina Schmidt and Kylie Lewis 6-2, 5-7, 6-3.
Quincy's other win came from No. 2 single Colleen Knodell, who defeated Cloe Schmidt 7-6 (7-5), 6-0.
Ephrata's top single, senior Britney Ratigan, was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Heidi Thaemert. The Tigers' third doubles team of Mia Flint and Jamie Bohnet outlasted Katie Homer and Becca Boen (6-4, 2-6, 6-1).
Royal 4, Cle Elum-Roslyn 1
ROYAL CITY - The Lady Knights cruised to an SCAC win over the Warriors, losing only three games in the five matches.
Top-seeded single Kelcy Jansen routed Tiffany Jack (6-0, 6-0), while No. 2 player Anna Dahlke was equally impressive in her win over Sidney Moser (6-1, 6-0).
Royal's top doubles team of Amber Christensen and Emily Hoelscher downed Stacy Cordahl and Lizzie Smith (7-5, 6-2). The third team of Judith Mendez and Amy Martinez gutted out a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) win against Mariah Stern and Sierra Burgess.
Royal's only loss came at No. 2 doubles, where Breahna Weissner and Hollie Clause dropped a 5-7, 6-4, 3-6 test to Haley Nelson and Alyssa Allen.
Wilson Creek 4, Sprague-Harrington 1
HARRINGTON - Ksenja Fredere and Stephanie McQuaig were each part of two victories for the Lady Devils in their non-league win over the Falcons.
Fredere, the Devils' No. 1 single, was an 8-6 winner over Rachel Roberts. Fredere also teamed with Samantha Todd at No. 1 doubles, and the pair beat Brandi Sweet and Chelsee Kiefer 8-3.
Wilson Creek's other wins came at No. 2 singles, where McQuaig outlasted Candace Hansen 8-6, and at No. 3 doubles, where McQuaig and Jackie Treat combined for an 8-1 thrashing of Emma Brown and Karissa Stedman.
The Devils' only loss came at No. 2 doubles, as Sprague-Harrington's Lisa Millard and Emily Snyder defeated Holly Wilson and Treat 8-3.
Moses Lake at Richland
RICHLAND - The first Columbia Basin League match of the season saw Moses Lake finish in fourth place with 361 total strokes.
Colby Ragan was the Chiefs' low scorer, finishing at 86, good for an eighth-place tie with Pasco's Saul Martinez and Walla Walla's Ryan Goude.
Billy Brice tied for 12th with an 89, with teammates Gabe Porter (92) and Zac McDougall (94) rounding out the field.
Richland's Zach Richardson and Walla Walla's Jeff Neher tied for the individual title at 80, an 8-over score on the par-72 Meadow Springs Country Club course. The Blue Devils edged the Bombers for the team title by one stroke, 339-340.
