Fairgrounds improvement continues
More barns, more meeting space
MOSES LAKE - People attending the upcoming Spring Fair/Home Show and the Grant County Fair in August will notice many changes since their last visit.
Changes include remodeled bathrooms and more space for camping vehicles.
"We've added some really nice large sites," Terese Schrom, fairgrounds facilities coordinator.
Schrom said people with large vehicles such as trucks and RVs can connect the vehicles to electricity.
More meeting space was added in the domestic pets building, which now has a small office area inside.
Double doors were installed on the exterior of the 4-H building and the commercial building. The doorways face each other, creating a straight path between the two buildings.
Schrom said the remodeling will provide a spacious meeting location at the fairgrounds.
New barns were constructed and Barn 46 housed horses over the weekend.
Barn construction is by Halme Builders and the infrastructure at the grounds is by Halme Construction.
Whitebird Construction is the company working on the 4-H and commercial buildings.
Facilities and maintenance manager Vern Cummings said he is pleased with the work being done and said everyone at the contracted companies and with the fairgrounds, is putting in their best effort.
The Grant County Commissioners contracted for the $12 million project last April.
