Donald 'Don' William Vickerman

Donald "Don" William Vickerman, 90, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008, at his home.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13 at Pioneer Memorial Gardens with Pastor Floyd Wilks officiating. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake. Don was born Sept. 2, 1917, in Harvey, N.D. to Ira and Selma Vickerman. He married Laura Wagner on Aug. 28, 1939, in Walla Walla and made their home in Yakima until 1942 when they moved to Tacoma. In January of 1946 they moved to Moses Lake where they have resided since. Laura passed away April 8, 1996.

Don enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching Gonzaga basketball. He was a carpenter by trade and worked most of the dams on the Columbia and Snake rivers including the Hanford area. He was a 60-year member of the Local Union #1849 in Pasco. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Kathy Vickerman of Benton City, Wash., and Dennis and Jan Vickerman of Tacoma; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharen DeLong, Donna and Rick Rietz and Laurie and Farrel Huntsman, all of Moses Lake, one sister, Onie Lash of Minnesota, a brother-in-law, Duane Wagner and his wife Fortune of Moses Lake, a sister-in-law, Frances Kreller of North Dakota, 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren and a basketball team in Spokane.
