Lorena Oster

Lorena Oster, age 92, was born on March 7, 1916, in Ruff, Wash., to August and Magdalena Giese. She grew up in the Ruff area and attended school through eighth grade.

She married Jacob Oster Jr. on Jan. 31, 1936, in Ritzville. They farmed in the Ruff - Ritzville area until 1920 and then moved to Moses Lake in 1971.

August passed away in 1975 and Lorena continued to live there until she passed away on June 18, 2008.

Lorena enjoyed cooking, caring for children and her husband and family.

She is survived by her son, Ernest Oster of Walla Walla, and daughter Dolores and husband Jerry Hudspeth of Springdale, Wash., daughter-in-law, Margie Erickson of Walla Walla, 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Clifford Giese of Spokane, a sister, Marie DeWitt of Yuma, Ariz., along with a special caregiver Twila Stansbury and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents August and Magdalena Giese, husband Jacob in 1975, four brothers and four sisters.

A graveside service was held on Thursday, June 26 at 2 p.m. at Odessa Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Tim Hauge, officiating. Vault Interment followed the services at the Odessa Cemetery, Odessa, Wash. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash., is caring for the family.
